It was over soon after it started as Silverton Hill LLC’s Ruby Notion bounced out of the gate on top and cruised to an easy 2 ¼ length score in the $60,000 Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon.
Trained by Wesley Ward and dispatched the 13-10 favorite, Ruby Notion stepped the firm five furlongs on turf in :56 3/5 and paid $4.60, $3.60 and $2.60 in the field of eight 2-year-old fillies.  Tight Weave completed the $40.20 exacta and returned $7.40 and $6.20.  It was another half-length back to Silver Majorette, who paid $6.40 to show.
“She just broke easy and so quick from the gate,” said winning jockey Rafael Hernandez.  “Once we turned for home, she had plenty left.  She is even better now on the grass than she was the first time I rode her on the dirt.”

A daughter of Great Notion out of the Volksraad mare Modena Bay, the West Virginia-bred Ruby Notion was making just her third career start and first since returning from Royal Ascot.  With a record of 2-0-0 from three starts, she has earned $53,518.
