Queen Elizabeth II was denied another Royal Ascot win early in the day when First Receiver was nipped near the wire in the Hampton Court Stakes. Would she get redemption later?

Jim Crowley continued his winning ways as he picked up his fourth victory of the meeting aboard Hukum in the King George V Handicap.

And a Breeders' Cup Turf bid was extended to Lord North as he upset heavily favored Japan to capture the Prince of Wales's Stakes.

See all of Wednesday's recaps, stretch replays and U.S. betting pool payouts below. All times are Eastern:

Race 1: Silver Royal Hunt Cup Handicap (8:15 a.m.)

Another huge field of runners started the day at Royal Ascot. It was nearly anyone's race until the final 50 yards, when Sir Busker, piloted by Oisin Murphy, made a bold move, splitting foes to rocket ahead of the pack. The William Knight trainee, owned by Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds XI Racing, proved to be the best of the 22 horses that went to the gate. Salayel and Alternative Fact picked up the minor awards.

Sir Busker: $27.00 / $10.00
Salayel: $7.80
Alternative Fact: $9.20

$1 Exacta (1-14): $167.80
$1 Trifecta (1-14-18): $2,182.70

Race 2: Hampton Court Stakes (8:50 a.m.)

With one furlong to go, Berlin Tango held a tenuous lead heading for home. The queen's horse, First Receiver, was able to overtake Berlin Tango and looked like a Hampton Court winner. But Russian Emperor, owned by Laurie Macri, Mrs. Magnier et al, would not be denied, getting a nose, then a head in front of Front Receiver late in the race to win.

Russian Emperor: $7.00 / $3.00
First Receiver: $2.20
Berlin Tango: $3.20

$1 Exacta (8-3): $13.40
$1 Trifecta (8-3-1): $36.10

Race 3: King George V Handicap (9:25 a.m.)

Crowley won three of the seven races at Royal Ascot on Tuesday and was victorious aboard Hukum in the King George V Handicap. Trained by Owen Burrows and owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, the Sea the Stars colt went off at just over 10-1 odds in the U.S. pools. Kipps gave a valiant effort but was unable to pass Hukum in the final stages of the race. Subjectivist was able to get up for third.

Hukum: $23.60 / $5.40
Kipps: $3.40
Subjectivist: $14.40

$1 Exacta (7-13): $65.70
$1 Trifecta (7-13-5): $1,588.10

Race 4:
Prince of Wales’s Stakes (10 a.m.)

All seven runners in the Prince of Wales's Stakes had a chance to take home a Breeders' Cup Turf invite when the race came down to the final furlong. But it was Lord North, owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed Racing, who would emerge victorious, beating the field and 4-5 favorite Japan to the wire. Trained by John Gosden, who picked up his third 2020 Royal Ascot win, the Dubawi gelding picks up the chance to compete at Keeneland in November.

Lord North: $11.80 / $3.20
Addeybb: $3.00
Barney Roy: $3.20

$1 Exacta (6-1): $21.20
$1 Trifecta (6-1-3): $140.20

Race 5: Royal Hunt Cup Handicap (10:35 a.m.)

Another huge field, as 23 runners went to the gate for the Royal Hunt Cup Handicap. When it was all said and done, Godolphin's Dark Vision emerged victorious under the guidance of jockey William Buick. Another 10-1 U.S. pool winner on the day, those lucky enough to have the 16-22-12 trifecta were returned more than $2,500 for a $1 base bet.

Dark Vision: $22.80 / $10.20
Montatham: $7.00
Pogo: $16.00

$1 Exacta (16-22): $70.70

Race 6: Windsor Castle Stakes (11:10 a.m.)

James Doyle picked up another winner on the day, this time aboard favored Tactical in the Windsor Castle Stakes. The win gives the queen the victory she just missed out on earlier in the day. The 2-year-old colt by Toronado is trained by Andrew Balding. Longshot Muker finished behind Yazaman for third place and a hefty trifecta payout.

Tactical: $8.60 / $3.40
Yazaman: $12.20
Muker: $35.20

$1 Exacta (14-18): $93.00
$1 Trifecta (14-18-9): $3,113.20

Race 7:
Copper Horse Handicap (11:40 a.m.)

With two furlongs left in a race contested at about 14.2 furlongs, Fujiara Prince, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum separated himself from the rest of the field, opening up a lead by increasing lengths. No one was able to catch him and jockey Andrea Atzeni as the Roger Varian-trained gelding by Pivotal took the Copper Horse Handicap in style. The best of the rest wound up being Selino and Almania as the 3-1 favorite won convincingly.

Fujiara: $8.80 / $3.60
Selino: $6.00
Almania: $8.00
