Royal Ascot 2020: Tuesday race results, payouts and replays
The famed Royal Ascot meet got underway with an appropriate 2020 wrinkle on Tuesday, as the races were held with no spectators in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There was no official visit from the Queen. Top hats and tails, and ornate dresses and fascinators, were not to be seen trackside.
But there were still compelling races. Seven of them to be exact.
The following are the race results, replays and U.S. payouts of the seven Royal Ascot races on Tuesday, June 16, 2020:
Race 1: Buckingham Palace Handicap (8:15 a.m.)
With a slight rain falling, jockey Jim Crowley got the Royal Ascot meeting started with a longshot winner in Motakhayyel, who beat 22 others to the wire with a strong run in the final 100 yards. Frankie Dettori, aboard favored Daarik failed to hit the board, as fellow longhsot Jack's Point finished second, followed by Mutamaasik.

Race 2: Queen Anne Stakes (8:50 a.m.)
The Queen Anne was a thriller, as Aidan O'Brien-trained favorite Circus Maximus was piloted to victory by Ryan Moore by the slightest of margins over Dettori and Terebellum. Longshot Marie's Diamond was able to stay up to finish third, but it was the top two finishers who were part of the photo at the wire. Highly-backed and highly-rated Battaash showed he deserved favoritism in the King's Stand. Crowley recorded his second win on the day aboard Charles Hills' superb trainee. The third time was the charm for Battaash, as he finished second in both the 2018 and 2019 editions of this race. The photo for second in this year's race went to Equilateral, who edged Liberty Beach by the slimmest of margins.

Favorite Verdana Blue was the only other horse to pass Summer Moon late, taking second.
