Rossi hitting her stride at Ellis

Two days into last summer's Ellis Park race meet, Oriana Rossi was still doing her work in the mornings, serving as an exercise rider for trainer Tim Glyshaw and hoping to ride a race or two for real in the afternoons.

She got the occasional chance, and in her 13th opportunity got her very first win, aboard a mare called Dancing Sky that went off at 7-to-1 odds for trainer Dwight Preston.

Rossi hasn't looked back since.
