Armand A. Delaperriere’s Rolling Yona sat off the early pace before pushing through on the rail and drawing clear by two lengths to capture the $46,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.

Trained by Kathleen Demasi, Rolling Yona stepped the mile and 70 yards over a fast main track in 1:42 and returned $12, $6.20 and $3.40.  Speighter Man rallied to complete the $117.60 exacta and paid $10.60 and $5.20.  It was another 7 ½ lengths back to Romp City, who paid $3.60 to show.

“I had a perfect trip,” said winning jockey John Bisono.  “He broke sharp and I had great position the whole way.  He was waiting for me to ask and when I asked, he went.”

A 4-year-old colt by Yonaguska from the Yes It’s True mare Rolling True, Rolling Yona has won five of her 12 starts.
