Rockingham Ranch's Trump ventures out on his own with new stable
As racing manager for Rockingham Ranch, Brian Trump campaigned Eclipse Award winners, visited the winner’s circle on Dubai World Cup night and saw back-to-back Breeders’ Cup victories last fall by Roy H (Sprint) and Stormy Liberal (Turf Sprint).
“It only feels natural that I take everything I have learned and try to replicate that success on my own, based on my own decisions,” said Trump, who this week announced he’ll be running horses from now on under his Supreme Racing banner.
“…I have partnered up with multiple new trainers and farms that I have met along the way and cannot wait to hit the ground running,” Trump said. “I am truly impressed with the success of new young ownership groups this past year, and I can only hope to be blessed with the same success.”
The California-based Trump said his new stable will be documented further in the coming weeks on social media, at @realBrianTrump and @RacingSupreme. Already, he’s sticking with the approach of naming a few after famous figures, including a 2-year-old colt, Mickelson.
With Trump aboard, Rockingham Ranch, led by his father-in-law, Gary Hartunian, evolved from a hobby owning about 25 horses to a business with more than 90 among its racing and breeding operations.
Roy H and Stormy Liberal remain in training, while Rockingham Ranch’s other star, X Y Jet, in March won the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1). As for Supreme Racing, the stable shows three starts in 2019 with one win. The numbers will be on the rise soon.
