Rock Fall in Excellent Shape Day After Vosburgh
Stonestreet Stable's Rock Fall emerged from Saturday's Grade 1 Vosburgh victory no worse for the wear, according to trainer Todd Pletcher.
"He's excellent. He looked pretty good this morning," Pletcher reported. "He came out of the race well. I was very pleased [with the race]. I thought he showed some determination. He kind of got surrounded by horses in the middle of the stretch and he was able to fend off a couple of different challenges. It was a big effort."
Rock Fall, whose Vosburgh victory propelled Pletcher past the $300 million mark in career earnings, has been a model of dependability for his connections, extending his 16-month winning streak to seven.
"It's pretty hard to maintain that kind of consistency in the sprint division," said Pletcher. "It's quite an accomplishment for him to be able to win seven races in a row."
Breeders' Cup heavyweight Liam's Map, who is under consideration for either the $1 million Dirt Mile or the $5 million Classic, turned in his final New York move on Saturday morning before relocating to Keeneland next week.
Liam's Map breezed four furlongs over the Belmont training track in 49.49 seconds, his first official work since his front-running, 4 ¾-length victory in the Grade 1 Woodward on September 5. The 4-year-old Unbridled's Song colt will head to the Blue Grass on Wednesday, along with most of Pletcher's other Breeders' Cup candidates.
"Pretty much everything that's not running next weekend," he explained.
