The list of horses with qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby 2023 is a bit longer, with four new names after two preps over the weekend.

The U.S road to the Kentucky Derby made two more stops, at Aqueduct for the Jerome on Saturday and at Santa Anita for the Sham (G3) on Sunday.

Lugan Knight
picked up 10 points for his win in the Jerome and joined the leaderboard at No. 9. Runner-up Arctic Arrogance added four points to go with the four already earned for his second-place finish in the Remsen (G2). He moved up to No. 10 on the leaderboard.

The third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishers, in order, were General Banker (3 points), Neural Network (2 points) and Andiamo a Firenze (1 point). Andiamo a Firenze's point brought him up to three points total and to No. 21 in the standings. General Banker and Neural Network joined the leaderboard at Nos. 23 and 30, respectively.

Only one colt received points from the Sham: Packs a Wahlop, who finished fourth and earned 2 points. This puts him at No. 25 on the leaderboard. The top three finishers, led by winner Reincarnate, all are trained by Bob Baffert, whose runners are ineligible for Derby points because of his suspension from Churchill Downs. Spun Intended was in fifth place, but he got no points because he did not finish the race.

The next race on the U.S. Derby trail is the Lecomte (G3) at Fair Grounds on Jan. 21, with 20-8-6-4-2 points on the line.
