Zenyatta’s second foal, Ziconic, has put his days as a racehorse behind him. Now, Ziconic's set to start a new career.

The son of leading sire Tapit and out of the 2010 Horse of the Year is moving into life as an off-the-track-thoroughbred, Zenyatta’s team announced Wednesday.

The 6-year-old Ziconic will begin an eventing career at Templeton Farms, a sport horse training facility in Templeton, Calif.

Linda Moss of Templeton Farms said she and husband George Bedar “are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic is the second Zenyatta foal to begin an eventing career. Cozmic One has worked as an OTTB in Kentucky since retiring from racing in 2017.

Trained by John Shirreffs, Ziconic raced 12 times in maiden special weight company from February 2016-February 2018 and remained a maiden. The Kentucky bred earned $70,465 over his career.
