Retama Park Set to Begin Fall Meet

There will be new faces among the trainers' colony at Retama Park when the 32-day fall Thoroughbred meeting opens on Aug. 28. The Retama stakes schedule has been slashed to maintain the purse
structure for maiden, claiming and allowance contests. Highlighting the
meet are a pair of $125,000 Texas Stallion Stakes races at six furlongs
for 2-year-olds Sept. 26 and two $100,000 stakes races at a mile on the
turf for 2-year-olds Oct. 24.
