Venetian Harbor has been retired after sustaining a foreleg injury during a workout, the Daily Racing Form reported.
“She can’t race anymore,” trainer Richard Baltas told DRF. “She’ll be sound to be bred and be a mother, but her racing career is over, unfortunately."
The 4-year-old Munnings filly, who had been under consideration for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, will not require surgery.
Venetian Harbor has a lifetime record of 11: 4-5-1 with earnings of $699,400. This year, she won the Monrovia Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita in June, followed by a second-place finish in the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) and a 10th-place finish in the Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint last out.
Breeding plans have not been set, according to the DRF report.
