Two Emmys, who came back from a 10-month layoff to win a stakes race last month, was euthanized Sunday after a training accident in New Orleans.

Fair Grounds track announcer John G. Dooley paid tribute to the Grade 1 winner in an X post that acknowledged the training mishap first reported by Daily Racing Form.

Marcus Hersh of DRF said in an X post that the 8-year-old gelding broke his leg during a workout. Trainer and co-owner Hugh Robertson told Hirsch that it likely happened after another horse "bounced him off the fence" in the upper stretch. Two Emmys had been working at Fair Grounds.

Hersh said in a separate post that jockey James Graham was riding Two Emmys when the accident occurred. Agent Doug Bredar told Hersch that Graham had soreness in his body and was off his Sunday mounts.

Two Emmys had a career record of 25: 8-9-1 and earnings of $985,083. After winning the Grade 3 Fair Grounds Stakes in February, Two Emmys took a break from racing and returned last month to win the listed Buddy Diliberto Memorial Stakes.

By English Channel out of the Buddha mare Miss Emmy, Two Emmys won three graded stakes during his career, including the 2021 Mr. D (G1) at Arlington. After leading at every call, he held on to win by a neck at odds of 27-1.
