Report: Stewards suspend Prat for 3 days for Zulu Kingdom ride
Stewards in New York suspended jockey Flavien Prat three days for careless riding in Friday's Grade 2 National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Stakes. Prat was riding favored Zulu Kingdom. Prat and Zulu Kingdom cut in on Luther and Tiz Dashing while racing into the first turn. After extended deliberation by stewards, Zulu Kingdom was disqualified from first to fourth for that ride.
Prat will serve his suspension Aug. 13-15, according to a report from David Grening of Daily Racing Form.
In a decision published on the New York Racing Association website, stewards determined that Zulu Kingdom cost Luther and Tiz Dashing the opportunity for a better placing, because after Zulu Kingdom shifted in, Tiz Dashing had to take back for several strides and was carried into the path of Luther, who made contact with the rail, checked and lost momentum. Luther eventually crossed the wire second, 1 1/2 lengths behind Zulu Kingdom, but was placed first. Tiz Dashing rallied to cross the finish line fourth but was placed third.
