Report: Stewards suspend 3 jockeys for careless riding
Three jockeys were suspended by stewards for careless riding during the recently concluded Aqueduct meet.
Daily Racing Form reported that the three suspended riders are Dylan Davis, Samy Camacho and Trevor McCarthy.
Davis and Camacho were suspended for their rides in a New York Stallion Stakes race April 22. Davis rode Lifetime of Chance to win the race, and Camacho was second on Bank Frenzy.
Davis was suspended from last Sunday to Saturday, according to the DRF report, and Camacho was suspended Sunday, Thursday and Friday.
The stewards conducted an inquiry and determined that after the quarter pole, Lifetime of Chance came out under left-handed urging from Davis, causing Ten Cent Town to check off heels.
The stewards' decision also said that turning for home, Bank Frenzy came out under a left-handed crop from Camacho, brushing Dr. Kraft and continuing to drift out as the rider held on to the left rein.
The stewards did not change the original order of finish.
McCarthy was suspended Sunday, Thursday and Friday for his ride on Refuah in the sixth race at Aqueduct on April 21.
According to the stewards' decision, Refuah and McCarthy came out inside the sixtheenth pole into Inspector. Nearing the wire, Refuah came out under a left-handed crop and bumped Inspector, causing him to take up over heels.
The stewards determined that Refuah cost Inspector a placing. They disqualified Refuah from first and placed him second, with Inspector getting the win.
