Report: Stellar Wind to breed with Galileo, not American Pharoah

Plans changed for Stellar Wind soon after she sold to Coolmore in November when the daughter of Curlin was brought back to the races for a sixth-place effort in the Pegasus World Cup.

They changed again when BloodHorse reported Monday that the champion mare won’t breed to Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

Rather, the report states, Coolmore has confirmed its $6 million purchase will meet Galileo in Ireland.

Stellar Wind went 10-2-1 in 17 starts on the racetrack, with victories in a trio of Grade 1 races last year: Oaklawn’s Apple Blossom, Santa Anita’s Beholder Mile and Del Mar’s Clement L. Hirsch Stakes.

Galileo earned his ninth champion sire titled last year, with millions in his progeny’s earnings separating him from the second-place finisher.
