Santa Barbara, who invaded from Ireland and won two Grade 1s this summer at Del Mar, was euthanized after a pelvic injury worsened on Wednesday night, the Racing Post reported.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien told the Racing Post, "Santa Barbara fractured her pelvis and unfortunately the fracture displaced overnight. It's obviously a real shame for everyone. She was a very talented filly."

Santa Barbara, a Camelot filly owned by the team at Coolmore, broke her maiden last September at the Curragh and then lost her first three starts of this season in Ireland and the U.K., all in Group 1s. Then she came to the U.S., where she won two straight Grade 1 stakes: the Belmont Oaks Invitational and the Beverly D. at Arlington.

The Racing Post reported earlier this week that she had suffered a "setback" and would not be coming to the U.S, for the Breeders' Cup.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien said in that report that Mother Earth, winner of the 1,000 Guineas (G1) at Newmarket, who had been pointed to the Golden Eagle in Australia, would pick up the races that Santa Barbara would miss. He said she could run in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket or go to Keeneland for a prep race prior to the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Keeneland on Nov. 6.
