Prince Lucky, the multiple graded stakes winner injured Saturday in the Harlan's Holiday Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, underwent successful surgery Monday, reports the Daily Racing Form's Mike Welsch.

Owned by breeder Daniel McConnell, Prince Lucky was pulled up in the Harlan's Holiday after jockey Johnny Velazquez felt something go wrong in the early stages of the race. The 4-year-old Corinthian gelding suffered bilateral sesamoid fractures to his right-front leg, was splinted on track and vanned off.

Prince Lucky shipped to Dr. John Madison's equine hospital in Ocala, where X-rays confirmed the fractures and Madison concluded the 4-year-old was a candidate for surgery to stabilize the limb in efforts to prepare him for retirement.
Prince Lucky won the Hal's Hope (G3) and Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G2) at the Hallandale, Fla., race course earlier this year. His career ended with seven wins in 16 starts, accumulating $607,570 in earnings.
