Nysos, the undefeated colt trained by Bob Baffert, will not be ready to race in the Preakness Stakes on May 17.

Baffert told John Cherwa of the Los Angeles Times that the Nyquist colt could resume training in a couple of weeks.

Baffert said in mid-March that Nysos would be sidelined with a "minor" setback and would be only tack walking for 30 days.

Nysos was the 5-2 favorite in the Preakness Future Wager presented by Horse Racing Nation. He was ineligible for the Kentucky Derby because of Baffert's suspension by Churchill Downs Inc.

Nysos won his October debut by 10 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita. He then won the Bob Hope (G1) by 8 3/4 lengths over Stronghold in November. He returned in February with a 7 1/2-length win in the Robert G. Lewis (G3).

Nysos was scratched the day before he was supposed to start March 3 at Santa Anita in the San Felipe (G2), a race in which he would have been the odds-on favorite. At the time, Baffert said he had changed his mind and was pointing the colt to the Santa Anita Derby (G1), which was held Saturday.
