After noise from a car and bike show led to safety concerns and the cancellation of Sunday racing at Aqueduct, the New York Racing Association plans to ask for redress from Resorts World Casino, which operates a casino adjacent to the Aqueduct grandstand.

According to a report from Bill Finley of Thoroughbred Daily News, Pat McKenna, NYRA's vice president of communications, said that NYRA plans to "seek reimbursement from Resorts Worldon behalf of the people impacted by the cancellation, most notably the horsemen and women who were deprived of racing opportunities on Sunday."

The event, the March Madness Car and Bike Show, began Sunday at 1 p.m. EDT, ten minutes before the first scheduled post. According to the TDN report, an agreement between NYRA and Genting, who operates Resorts World Casino, requires five days' notice about events that are likely to interfere with racing. NYRA did not get such notice about the car and bike show.

Sunday's cancellation was the second in less than six months due to actions for which Resorts World Casino did not give NYRA advance notice. On Oct. 11, Aqueduct had to cancel racing after a chemical treatment that Resorts World Casino applied to the roof affected the air in a way that made the racing officials' offices unusable.
