Nashwa, a three-time Group 1 winner, has been retired to become a broodmare, Racing Post reported.

The decision was announced after the 5-year-old daughter of Frankel finished last in the Classic Stakes (G1) on Saturday at Ascot.

Owned by Imad Al Sagar and bred by Blue Diamond Stud, she had a career record of 18: 5-3-4 for trainers John and Thady Gosden, with earnings of $2.1 million.

Her Group 1 wins came in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly and the Nassau at Goodwood in 2022 and the Falmouth at Newmarket in 2023. She has had seven straight losses since, including three this year.

As the favorite in the 2022 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Keeneland, she finished fourth.

"It’s a pity this year didn’t work out, but those are the dangers," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Al Sagar. "She’s now off to the paddocks and Imad is currently sorting out mating plans, which is one of those nice problems to have. She’ll be a fantastic addition to Blue Diamond Stud, which currently has about 40 mares worldwide in total."
