Report: Moira could continue racing in Australia

Moira, who picked up her first Grade 1 win in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, could run in Australia for her new owners.

Canadian Thoroughbred reported that the 5-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper was headed to Yulong Stud in Australia after being bought for $4.3 million Monday to Yulong Investments.

“We haven’t made any real plans with her just at this stage,” Yulong Stud general manager Vin Cox told Canadian Thoroughbred. But “likely short to medium term we will race her on, potentially in Australia.”

Moira was Canada's horse of the year and champion 3-year-old filly of 2022 for trainer Kevin Attard. Before the Breeders' Cup, her biggest win when she beat the boys by seven lengths in the 2022 Queen's Plate.

She has a career record of 17: 7-6-2 and earnings of about $3 million. Other graded-stakes wins came in this year's Beverly D. (G2) and last year's Canadian (G2).
