Report: Mind Your Biscuits dies in Japan at age 13
Mind Your Biscuits, who had the highest earnings of any New York-bred Thoroughbred, died Tuesday at age 13 at Shadai Stallion Station in Japan.
Paulick Report, citing a report by Sankei Sports, reported that Mind Your Biscuits had been in good health until midday Tuesday, when his condition quickly worsened after a trip to the breeding shed.
Bred by Jumping Jack Racing, the son of Posse had a career record of 25: 8-10-3 and lifetime earnings of $4,279,566. He had three Grade 1 wins, with back-to-back victories in the Dubai Golden Shaheen in 2017 and 2018 plus a score in the Malibu in 2016. Other graded wins came in the 2018 Lucas Classic (G3), the 2017 Belmont Sprint Championship (G2) and the 2016 Amsterdam (G2).
Trained by Chad Summers, he was acquired by Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm in Japan after winning his second Dubai Golden Shaheen in 2018 and began standing stud there for the 2019 season. His final race was an 11th-place finish in the 2018 Breeders' Cup Classic.
Among his progeny is Derma Sotagake, who was sixth in the 2023 Kentucky Derby and second in the Breeders' Cup Classic that year.
