Maximus Mischief is off Triple Crown trail due to a soft-tissue injury to his right front leg, Tom Pedulla, reporting for BloodHorse, revealed Tuesday. This further development follows the Info Mischief colt's defection from Gulfstream Park's Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) leaving his final weekend workout.

Jockey Jose Ortiz was aboard for the half-mile drill at Gulfstream, which Maximus Mischief completed in 49.02. Ortiz pulled up Maximus Mischief instead of galloping out.

Per Pedulla, the colt will be sent to Eisaman Equine near Ocala, Fla., for further evaluation and time to heal.

"I'm not going to be able to put a timetable on much of anything," trainer Butch Reid said in the report. "Everything is kind of on hold right now. We'll take it one step at a time and certainly give him all of the time he needs. That's the top priority at this point."

Should Maximus Mischief be ready in time, Reid named the Sept. 21 Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at his Parx Racing base as a possible target.

Maximus Mischief, owned by Cash is King LLC and LC Racing, won his first three career starts, including the Remsen Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct Dec. 1. He finished third as the favorite in Gulfstream's Holy Bull Stakes on Feb. 2
