Grade 1-placed Liora, who earned that distinction when running second in the Kentucky Oaks, will have to wait for a rematch with Serengeti Empress.

The Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee reported Tuesday morning that Liora suffered an injury while galloping at Churchill Downs and underwent surgery. Trainer Wayne Catalano told McGee the filly is expected to race again.

A daughter of Candy Ride campaigned by Coffeepot Stables, Liora was targeting Belmont Park's June 8 Acorn (G1), the same anticipated next race spot as Serengeti Empress.

Liora won Churchill's Golden Rod (G2) to cap her 2-year-old season, then ran fourth to open her sophomore campaign in Fair Grounds' Silverbulletday. She has finished second in three starts since, including runner-ups in the Rachel Alexandra (G2) and Fair Grounds Oaks (G2).

Overall, the former $175,000 yearling purchase is 2-3-1 in six starts.
