Report: Jack Christopher's Breeders' Cup race is still undecided
The connections of top 3-year-old Jack Christopher remain undecided on which Breeders’ Cup race they will target – the Sprint or the Dirt Mile, according to a published report.
Daily Racing Form reported Wednesday that trainer Chad Brown was still on the fence as of Tuesday on the colt’s next race.
“After his next work, I’ll have a better idea,” the publication quoted him as saying.
Jack Christopher, who is owned by Jim Bakke, Gerald Isbister, Coolmore Stud and Peter Brant, last worked on Saturday, breezing five furlongs in 1:00 at Keeneland, the fastest of 67 moves at the distance.
He is expected to be among the favorites in whichever race his connections choose.
The son of Munnings out of the Half Ours mare Rushin No Blushin, has compiled a record of 6: 5-0-1 and earned more than $1.2 million since breaking his maiden at first asking last year at Saratoga. Two of those victories have come at a mile and two were in sprints.
Jack Christopher’s only setback came in the 1 1/8-mile Haskell (G1) on July 23 at Monmouth Park, when he finished third behind winner Cyberknife and Taiba, beaten just over two lengths.
