Report: Met Mile winner Honor Code will stand in Japan in 2024
Honor Code has been sold to stand at Yushun Stallion Station in Japan, beginning in the 2024 breeding season.
The sale was announced Thursday by Lane's End and first reported by Thoroughbred Daily News. Honor Code is a son of A. P. Indy out of the Storm Cat mare Serena's Cat. His first 2-year-olds began running in 2019. Leaders among his progeny include 2020 Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Honor A. P., 2021 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Max Player and 2021 Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) winner Maracuja. Honor A. P. remains at Honor Code's former home, Lane's End.
Trained by Shug McGaughey, Honor Code finished his career with a 11: 6-2-2 record and earnings of over $2.5 million. He prevailed twice at the top level, winning both the Met Mile (G1) and the Whitney (G1) in 2015. Though both of those wins came during his 4-year-old year, he was also one of the better two-year-olds of his crop, winning the Remsen (G2) and finishing second to Havana in the Champagne (G1) in 2013.
Honor Code is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Noble Tune and listed stakes winner Declarationofpeace. His third dam is the Hall of Fame inductee Serena's Song, the champion 3-year-old filly of 1995.
