Divine Miss Grey, a graded stakes winner who retired after fracturing a sesamoid in her left foreleg in the Aug. 3 De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga, was euthanized after undergoing surgery, the Daily Racing Form’s David Grening reports.

Divine Miss Grey, a 5-year-old daughter of Divine Park, was trained by Danny Gargan for Corms Racing Stable and R. A. Hill Stable. The former claimer won 12 of 26 starts with six of those victories in stakes company, including the Chilukki (G2) during Breeders’ Cup weekend last November at Churchill Downs.

Gargan told Grening that Divine Miss Grey wasn’t receiving enough bloodflow to her foot after the operation.

“She was the best horse I ever trained,” Gargan said. “She built the barn. She’s the horse that made the stable. It’s sad.”

Divine Miss Grey was pulled up in the De La Rose and vanned off, after which Gargan had said connections planned to make the $900,000 earner a broodmare.
