Report: Master of The Seas is out of Fourstardave with foot bruise

Master of The Seas was scratched from Saturday's Grade 1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga because of a foot bruise.

Chris Connett, assistant to trainer Charlie Appleby, told Daily Racing Form that if the 5-year-old gelding recovers quickly enough, he could train up to the Sept. 14 Woodbine Mile (G1).

Master of The Seas has had only one start this year, winning the Maker's Mark Mile (G1) in April. He closed out last year with a win in the Breeders' Cup Mile and also won the Woodbine Mile.

Appleby also has Ottoman Fleet in the Fourstardave. The 5-year-old gelding is 3-for-4 this year, with wins in the Wise Dan (G2) and Arlington (G3) in his last two starts.

DRF reported that Flavien Prat, who had been slated to ride Master of The Seas, will replace Joel Rosario on Ottoman Fleet.

Ottoman Fleet is the morning-line favorite at 8-5, with Chad Brown's Carl Spackler the second choice at 9-5.
