Report: Davis is suspended for ride that caused Saratoga spill
New York stewards reportedly have suspended jockey Dylan Davis for seven racing days for his ride on Montatham in a $50,000 starter allowance race at Saratoga on Wednesday, which led in a spill involving rider Eric Cancel.
Davis will serve the suspension, first reported by the Daily Racing Form's David Grening on Twitter, over nine calendar days, from Wednesday through Aug. 25.

Calls to the New York Racing Association and the New York Gaming Commission seeking to confirm the report were not returned Friday.
The incident occurred in the seventh race, when Davis pulled Montatham off the rail and “right into the path of #8 On Our Way Boyz, forcing him to clip heels” and unseating Cancel en route to a first-place finish, the stewards said at the time.
“After reviewing the video and speaking to the riders involved, the stewards felt that #9 Montatham was at fault.”
The stewards disqualified the 6-year-old trained by Joseph Lee and place him eighth.
Cancel was not seriously injured in the incident, returning to ride on Thursday’s card at Saratoga. On Our Way Boyz was up and jogged on the track after the fall, but no further information on his condition was available.
Through Thursday, Davis was 10th in the Saratoga jockey standings, with seven wins from 98 starts, a win percentage of 7.1 percent. He finished second in the standings at the Belmont fall meet, falling one short of Irad Ortiz Jr. with 47 wins.
Since making his riding debut in 2012, Davis has won 1,042 races from 8,610 starts, for a win percentage of 12.1 percent.
