Swiss Skydiver is going to the Preakness

Kentucky Oaks runner-up Swiss Skydiver is going back to facing the boys next weekend, when she will try to become the sixth filly to win the Preakness Stakes.

Trainer Kenny McPeek will make Swiss Skydiver the first filly to be entered in the race since Ria Antonia six years ago. Second against males in the Blue Grass Stakes (G2), she will try to become the first female winner of the Preakness since Rachel Alexandra in 2009.

McPeek made his decision not long after rival Todd Pletcher decided not to enter Happy Saver or Dr Post into next Saturday's race at Pimlico, according to Daily Racing Form's David Grening. The decisions bring the current Preakness field to 11 with Ny Traffic still a maybe and Mystic Guide doubtful ahead of Monday’s draw.

Happy Saver will reportedly be pointed to the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) on Oct. 10, going 1 1/4 miles at Belmont Park. Other probables for that race include Tacitus and Prioritize, who finished second and third respectively in the Aug. 5 Woodward (G1) in their last starts.

Dr Post does not have a listed next race. In his last start, the Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga on Aug. 5, he finished fourth.

In other Preakness development, trainer Jose D'Angelo said that Jevian Toledo will ride Jesus' Team, and the New York Racing Association added that Trevor McCarthy will be on Liveyourbeastlife.
