Champion Australian mare Winx, who before her retirement earlier this year tallied a remarkable 25 Group 1 wins and four Cox Plates, is almost officially in foal.

The Australian reported on Wednesday that Winx had been confirmed as pregnant on a cover from top stallion I Am Invincible.

Winx’s ownership group declined to comment on the report, opting instead to wait to make a statement until a 45-day pregnancy test scheduled for later this week is completed. The good news is expected Monday.

An Australian-bred daughter of Street Cry, Winx compiled an overall mark of 37-3-0 from 43 starts during six seasons of racing. She won the final 33 starts of her career and her four wins in the Cox Plate is unprecedented.

Owners Peter Tighe, Debbie Kepitis and Richard Treweeke plan to keep all of the foals produced by Winx, according to the report, rather than send any to auction.
