Report: Audible returns to work tab, targets Pegasus World Cup
Grade 1 Florida Derby winner Audible returned to the work tab Sunday morning at Belmont Park, his first drill since his show finish in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby.
Trainer Todd Pletcher told the Daily Racing Form’s David Grening that the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup, run Jan. 26 at Gulfstream Park, is Audible’s target.
“Looks good, gained some weight, filled out nicely, been moving well,” Pletcher told Grening. “We’re just off to a starting point. Take it week by week.”
Audible worked over Belmont Park’s main track Sunday, going three furlongs in 38.34. He returned to Pletcher about two and a half weeks ago from WinStar Farm. WinStar owns him in partnership with China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners and Starlight Racing. Those connections also campaigned Justify to a Triple Crown victory.
The Into Mischief colt made his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes, running away with the win by 5 ½ lengths, before taking the Florida Derby over Hofburg by three lengths. Audible was a $500,000 2-year-old purchase for China Horse Club and WinStar. He currently has four wins from six starts and over $1 million in earnings.
