St. Patrick’s Day, the full brother to Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, “could be campaigned in Europe this summer,” Coolmore’s Dermot Ryan told The Blood-Horse, after the colt was sent to Ireland to rehab a tendon injury.
A son of Pioneerof the Nile, out of Littleprincessemma, St. Patrick’s Day broke his maiden at second asking Sept. 2 for trainer Bob Baffert. After that, he popped up on many an early 2018 Kentucky Derby list.
It was after that victory, per the report, that St. Patrick’s day went to Coolmore’s Ashford Stud, Ryan said. “We decided to seek specialist treatment in England and he is now back rehabilitating in Ireland,” he added.
The horse was purchased from Summer Wind Farm and is campaigned by Susan Magnier.
