Red Smith Next for Boisterous?

Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey remained well-satisfied with the return of Boisterous to the winner’s circle following Saturday’s Grade 3 Knickerbocker but is unsure of his plans for the 4-year-old Distorted Humor colt.

“He came back well; I was pleased with his race,” said McGaughey of Boisterous, who is 3-0-1 from five 2011 starts for Brushwood Stable. “But I have no idea what I want to do next with him.”

McGaughey said that while he will nominate Boisterous to the Grade 2 Red Smith at Aqueduct Racetrack on November 5, he does have a few reservations.

“It is a little quick back, just three weeks,” said McGaughey. “Plus, Johnny [Velazquez] knows him so well, and he is going to be out of town for the Breeders’ Cup. But I would sure like to run him in another race this year.”
