Kicking off this edition of our reader forum is a 2-for-1, with commenters posting nearly identical takes on Independence Hall after his victory in last Wednesday's Jerome Stakes. The winner's pre-race antics reminded of Gate Dancer, who was known to be quite a handful as well.
The Eclipse Awards finalists were announced over the weekend, and while there were plenty of opinions on which horses should win in their respective divisions, Mike in SB had this to say about their human counterparts. Do you agree?
Authentic prevailed in the Sham Stakes (G3), with the Into Mischief colt hitting wire 7 3/4 lengths ahead of stablemate Azul Coast, finishing the mile in 1:37.57. Note that the sire, of course, while popular among breeders has yet to see a son win the Kentucky Derby.
And finally, to open a new year, we reviewed the numbers here at Horse Racing Nation, showing the site saw an 81% year-over-year increase to top 20 million in visits. The kind words were appreciated in response.
