Raven Run guide: Odds, PPs, more for Keeneland feature

Ten of the nation’s best sprinting, 3-year-old fillies will try their hand Saturday in the featured Grade 2, $350,000 Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland.

Emery is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for the seven-furlong event, but contention runs deep with My Mane Squeeze and Miuccia among others holding solid résumé.

Post time for the Raven Run, the ninth of 10 races on the program, is 5:16 p.m. EDT. FanDuel TV will show the race live.

Emery is expected to be on or near the lead, and while she’ll have company in the form of Twirling Queen and Uno Le, the pace should not be a blazing one.

The Breeders’ Cup is closing in, and Mike Shutty’s eyes are glued to the Classic, where he sees Newgate as a live long shot.

“His return in the Grade 1 California Crown was his all-time best,” Shutty said. “There is some risk in him regressing off a lifetime top following a long layoff, but it was a slow pace, and he only ran quickly for two furlongs, so the risk of regression is lowered.”

Ed DeRosa’s Raven Run fair odds say Miuccia and My Mane Squeeze are the right alternatives if you’re looking to try and beat Emery. One horse he will not be playing in the Raven Run is V V’s Dream. 

DeRosa also has Perryville (G3) fair odds, and he believes Book’em Danno will steal the show in the other stakes race at Keeneland this Saturday.
