Ken and Sarah Ramsey, who have won 13 leading owner titles here, put a hammer lock on No. 14 Thursday when Looking Cool won the fourth race and High Wire Kitten took the eighth to give them eight victories through the first 15 days of the 17-day Fall Meet.
The Ramseys, who won a Fall Meet-record 17 races in 2013, have won four fall titles outright and shared three others.
Maggi Moss stands three victories behind the Ramseys, but she has no runners entered the final two days. The Ramseys have three runners entered today and seven Saturday.
Things got considerably tighter in the race for leading rider when Rosie Napravnik took off her mounts because of illness. The four riders closest to her in the standings all posted victories Thursday afternoon to slice into her advantage.
Napravnik, who won her initial Keeneland title last fall, has ridden 14 winners and leads Corey Lanerie by a victory. Lanerie’s Thursday victory came aboard Looking Cool, a mount he picked up in Napravnik’s absence.
Julien Leparoux and Shaun Bridgmohan are next with 12 victories apiece and Paco Lopez has ridden 11 winners.
Napravnik is named on eight mounts Friday and nine Saturday. Lanerie is on four horses today and eight Saturday.
Leparoux, who had a riding double Thursday to boost his career total to 1,997, is named on horses in seven races today and seven Saturday.
Bridgmohan is named on four mounts this afternoon and six Saturday. Lopez is on seven Friday and seven Saturday.
The trainer race also tightened when Wesley Ward swept the late double to boost his meet total to seven, one behind Todd Pletcher. Graham Motion is next with six.
Pletcher has one entrant today and one Saturday. Ward has no runners today and one Saturday, and Motion has two entrants today and one Saturday.
