Three Chimneys Farm’s Rainha Da Bateria, last early in a field of eight, overtook Quality Rocks in deep stretch to win the 24th running of the $150,000 JPMorgan Jessamine Chase (G3) for 2-year-old fillies by 1½ lengths before a crowd of 9,851 on a sun-splashed Wednesday afternoon.

The victory earned Rainha Da Bateria a berth in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) to be run Oct. 31 at Santa Anita.

Trained by Graham Motion and ridden by Joel Rosario, Rainha Da Bateria ran the 1 1/16 miles on a “good” turf course in 1:43.85. It was the first victory in the race for Motion and Rosario.

Cool Comfort rocketed out of the gate and opened a huge advantage while clicking off fractions of :22.41 and :46.94. Cool Comfort maintained her lead as the pack began to close in after six furlongs in 1:13.48 and stubbornly held on until yielding to Quality Rocks at the head of the stretch.

While the skirmishing was going on at the front end, Rosario had swung Rainha Da Bateria to the far outside and gradually wore down the field to claim the victory.

A Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate, Rainha Da Bateria is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Broken Vow out of the Dixieland Band mare Amelia. The $90,000 winner’s check boosted Rainha Da Bateria’s earnings to $144,800 with a record of 3-2-0-0.

Rainha Da Bateria returned $8.20, $3.40 and $3. Quality Rocks, ridden by Jose Lezcano returned $4.60 and $3 with Fila Primera finishing 3¼ lengths back in third under Javier Castellano and paying  $2.60 to show.

Cool Comfort finished fourth and was followed in order by Walking the Kitten, Late Spring, Magnificent Margo and True to You.

Racing continues Thursday with a nine-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. ET.
