When Leveraged Loan ($5.00) drew off to take the Wednesday finale, he took down with him the entire Rainbow Six jackpot.

One bettor earned a $179,140.46 payoff by possessing the only ticket with the winners of the day’s final six races. The winning combination was 3-3-13-7-4-1. The winning ticket of $130 was 3,4/3/1-13/3-7/1-4,10/1.

The winning ticket was purchased in Lewiston, Maine. On June 22, a winning Rainbow Six ticket was also purchased in Lewiston. That ticket cashed out on a $219,000 payday.

The Rainbow Six will resume on Thursday with a $50,000 guaranteed jackpot pool.

City of Weston Upsets Return of General a Rod

Jockey Paco Lopez sent City of Weston straight to the lead and never looked back, upsetting the return of last year’s Gulfstream Park Derby winner General a Rod in the eighth race, a 7-furlong allowance.

City of Weston, a 5-year-old son of Holy Bull, was sent off at 25-1 in the field of seven. The grey sat just off the pace of the front-running Best Man before launching his bid at the 5/16ths pole. He streaked to the lead at the top of the stretch and held off a late charge from second-choice Three Alarm Fire to score by 1 ½ lengths.

General a Rod, who strung together an impressive streak of finishes during last year’s Championship Meeting, finishing second in the Fountain of Youth (G2) and third in the Florida Derby (G1) before contesting all three legs of the Triple Crown, was fourth, 3 ¾ lengths behind the winner, in his first start since last June’s Belmont Stakes.

Winning trainer Antonio Sano was full of praise for the hard-knocking City of Weston, a veteran of 37 starts who Sano says “shows up every time,” as well as his accomplished competition.

“General a Rod is one of the best horses,” he said, “but I decided to enter [City of Weston] with Paco. Paco won the Gallant Bob (G3) with him in 2013. I told him, if you have room at the start, go ahead, and the horse won. I expect a good effort from this horse every time, every time. He’s a good horse.”

City of Weston covered the 7 furlongs in 1:23.27 and paid $55.40 to win, while Three Alarm Fire returned $3.80 to place. Tuscan Getaway was third, returning $12.40 to show.
