Rain in the forecast Saturday at Belmont Park, Churchill Downs
Rain could affect the proceedings Saturday at both Belmont Park and Churchill Downs, according to the National Weather Service.
At Belmont Park, the current forecast calls for a high of 84 degrees with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. There could be up to a half inch of rain in Elmont, N.Y.
Churchill Downs could receive up to a quarter inch of rain of Saturday. The forecast calls for partly-sunny skies with a high of 89 degrees and a 60 percent chance of precipitation.
Belmont Park has a 10-race program on tap Saturday, which includes five on the grass. The feature is a high-profile matchup between Grade 1 winners Life Is Good and Speaker's Corner in the $250,000 John A. Nerud (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track. The Nerud goes as race 4 with a scheduled post time of 2:34 p.m. EDT.
Churchill Downs has a juicy 12-race program on tap, all on dirt, which attracted an average of 10 starters per race. There are five stakes highlighted by the $750,000 Stephen Foster (G2) going 1 1/8 miles. The Foster is carded as race 10 with a scheduled post time of 5:47 p.m. EDT.
