Rahy's Attorney Favored in Elkhorn
Rahy's Attorney, fresh off a win in the Pan American (G3) at Gulfstream Park, heads a field of eleven in Friday's closing day Elkhorn Stakes (G2) at Keeneland.
The consistent Ontario-bred gelding has been part of the exacta in six straight turf stakes races and enters as the solid 2-1 morning line favorite. Emma Jayne Wilson gets the return call for trainer Ian Black.
Roger Attfield's nine-year-old horse Musketier meets Rahy's Attorney for the third time this year. He finished less than a length behind his nemesis twice at Gulfstream and maybe the change in venues can make all the difference. Today's pilot John Velazquez guided him home to victory in this event last year and he is 5-2 on the line.
Attfield also has Simmard and he could be the surprise package at 8-1. He was no threat off the shelf versus the two aforementioned favorites in Florida on Feb 19 but rebounded nicely to capture an optional claiming turf marathon at the end of March. He sports two local bullets and projects a tactical trip under Javier Castellano.
Also entered in the twelve furlong Elkhorn are Rezif, Bearpath, Pool Play, Mint Chip, Windward Islands, Giant's Tomb, Miami Deco, and Saratoga turf lover Telling.
The $150,000 Elkhorn is the 9th race at Keeneland on April 29 with a scheduled post of 5:23pm Eastern.
