A new ownership agreement for the Maryland Jockey Club could imperil any future chance of a slot machine license for Laurel Park, even if the developer who now has the license fails to move forward at Arundel Mills mall.
MI Developments Inc., the Ontario-based firm that recently took over Pimlico Race Course, Laurel Park and other assets from the bankrupt Magna Entertainment Corp., said in a statement Friday it has entered into a joint venture with Penn National Gaming Inc. to own and operate the Maryland Jockey Club.
