Quality Rocks Leads Field of Nine in Jessamine

Destiny Oaks of Ocala, Wachtel Stable and Brous Stable’s Quality Rocks, winner of the Arlington-Washington Lassie in her most recent start, headlines a field of nine 2-year-old fillies entered Saturday for Wednesday’s 24th running of the JPMorgan Chase Jessamine (G3) at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.
The JPMorgan Chase Jessamine is a Win and You’re In race for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) to be run Oct. 31 at Santa Anita.
The race will go as the eighth race on Wednesday’s nine-race program with a 4:42 p.m. ET post time.
Trained by Bill Mott, Quality Rocks will be making her grass debut following a first-out maiden victory over an all-weather surface at Presque Isle Downs and then the Polytrack victory at Arlington. Jose Lezcano has the mount Wednesday and will break from post position four.
Also in the field are two fillies that won their debuts on turf.
Gary Biszantz and Gary Vandeweghe’s Fila Primera won going a mile at Belmont Park on Sept. 7. Trained by Chad Brown, Fila Primera will be ridden by Javier Castellano and break from post position three.
Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Walking the Kitten won going a mile on Sept. 17 at Kentucky Downs. Trained by Mike Maker, Walking the Kitten will be ridden Rosie Napravnik and exit post position eight.
The field for the JPMorgan Chase Jessamine, from the inside out, is: Magnificent Margo (Robby Albarado), True to You (Julien Leparoux), Fila Primera (Castellano), Quality Rocks (Lezcano), Late Spring (Alan Garcia), Cool Comfort (Rafael Hernandez), West Coast Belle (Channing Hill), Walking the Kitten (Napravnik) and Rainha Da Bateria (Joel Rosario). All starters will carry 118 pounds.
