Prudhoe Bay Scores in Jersey Shore
Rustlewood Farm’s Prudhoe Bay battled early with Debt Ceiling before dispensing of that rival and holding off the charge of
Favorite Tale to take the $100,000, Grade 3 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday afternoon by nearly a length.
With Paco Lopez aboard for the ride,
Prudhoe Bay went the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:09
flat and paid $12.40, $4.80 and $3. Favorite Tale completed the $42
exacta and paid $3.20 and $2.20. It was another length and a half back
to Glacken Too, who
paid $3.40 to show in the field of six 3-year-old colts and geldings.
“I thought he ran fantastic, but that doesn’t surprise me,” said winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. “He’s really been training great. I wasn’t really thrilled with the post, the rail is tough, but Paco (jockey Lopez) handled it great and did what he needed to do today.”
A son of Songandaprayer from the Lion Heart mare Cameron Crazies, Prudhoe Bay has won four of nine lifetime starts, good for earnings of $191,535.
