Prospect Watch: Gun Runner’s sister will debut at Fair Grounds
Horse Racing Nation’s Prospect Watch scans all upcoming entries for starters early in their careers whose dams or siblings are graded-stakes winners or who sold for more than $500,000 at their most recent auction.
Pretty Ana, a 3-year-old half-sister to champion Gun Runner, is a homebred owned by Three Chimneys Farm and slated to debut for trainer Steve Asmussen at Fair Grounds. The daughter of Quality Road goes Thursday in race 6, a maiden special-weight dirt route. Gun Runner was sired by Candy Ride. No morning line is available yet.
Gun Runner was the first foal to race out of the Giant's Causeway mare Quiet Giant and Pretty Ana will be her fifth foal to race. Of her other three foals to race, two were winners. Tap Gun, a 9-year-old mare by Tapit, won two of seven races and earned $66,030. Fortune Ticket, a 7-year-old full brother to Gun Runner also won two of seven races earning $53,724.

In Gulfstream Park race 5, Pretty Liam, a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Danse Macabre, won her debut for trainer Todd Pletcher by 3 3/4 lengths. The maiden special weight sprint for 3-year-old fillies was washed off the grass and the daughter of Liam's Map powered home over the Tapeta surface.
“I thought she ran really well, too. I didn’t know what to expect on the synthetic,” Pletcher said. “She’s a half to a multiple-stakes winner on turf, so we kind of thought that was a logical place to get started. When it came off, we were confident to run her, and it worked out.”
Also on Thursday, Bad Betty, a half-sibling to Grade 1 winner Unbridled Command ran ninth and last in the fifth race at the Fair Grounds, a maiden claiming turf route.

Saturday, in Aqueduct race 1, Tuscan Sky, a 3-year-old half brother to Grade 2-winning turf sprinter Private Creed, debuts for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Next Wednesday, Turfway Park race 5, Moon Fleet, a half-brother to 2021 Wood Memorial (G2) winner Bourbonic, debuts for trainer Doug O'Neill.
Next Thursday, Gulfstream Park race 4, Fuji Fire, a 3-year-old colt who is a full sibling to Firenze Fire, debuts in a maiden claimer.
