Prospect Watch: Half-brother to Chancer McPatrick steps up

This week's Prospect Watch features young horses with elite bloodlines debuting and making early-career starts across the United States. 

The headliners include Amazon Warrior, a Gun Runner filly from dam Princesa Carina, and Silent Impact, a Gun Runner colt out of Emollient. Additional stakes-quality prospects include Lincoln's Law, already a winner who returns in stakes company at Oaklawn Park.

Monday

Al Mustaneera returns for her second career start in Mahoning Valley race eight. This 3-year-old filly by Munnings is out of Grade 3 winner Summer in Saratoga, who earned $481,822 during her racing career. She finished second, beaten by a neck, in her debut at Belterra Park last September while earning an 87 Horse Racing Nation speed figure. Trained by Andrew McKeever for Shadwell Farm, she will tackle 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt with jockey Jose A. Bracho aboard at 3-1 morning-line odds.

Wednesday

S S Island Fun makes her second start in Charles Town race four for trainer Anthony Lucas. This 4-year-old filly by D' Funnybone is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Olivia Darling, who earned $413,513. She finished second, beaten 1 1/2 lengths, in her debut at Charles Town on March 7 while posting a 79 HRN speed figure. The filly will compete at 4 1/2 furlongs on dirt with Sunday Diaz Jr. riding at 5-2 morning-line odds.

Coach Bennett returns to action in Parx Racing race five. The 4-year-old colt by Classic Empire is a half-brother to Eclipse champion sprinter Book'em Danno, who has earned $1.86 million so far. After a slow start Coach Bennett finished sixth, beaten 10 1/2 lengths, in his last start at Parx on Feb. 3 in allowance optional claiming company while earning a 98 HRN speed figure. Trainer Robert Reid Jr. has him entered at 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt with Dexter Haddock riding.

Thursday

Lincoln's Law headlines the action in Oaklawn Park race eight, the Hot Springs Stakes. This 3-year-old colt by Liam's Map is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Chancer McPatrick, who earned $817,875. He broke his maiden impressively at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 28, winning by 2 1/2 lengths while earning a 112 HRN speed figure. Trainer Phil Bauer sends him out for one mile on dirt with Luis Saez aboard at 7-2 morning-line odds for owner Rigney Racing. Lincoln's Law is also cross-entered in a one-mile allowance optional claiming race at Gulfstream on Friday.

Oracle of Beaufort makes his debut in Charles Town race five. This 3-year-old colt by Demarchelier is a half-brother to Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint winner Splendora, who has earned $1.16 million. Trained by Brittany Russell for The Elkstone Group, he will tackle 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt with Jevian Toledo aboard from post seven.

Pharoah's Beauty debuts in Turfway Park race four. The 3-year-old filly by American Pharoah is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Dance to the Music, who earned $241,530. She will compete at one mile on the Tapeta for trainer Graham Motion with Victor Carrasco riding at 12-1 morning-line odds.

Friday

Le Chasseur makes his debut in Gulfstream Park race one. This 3-year-old colt by Uncle Mo is out of Grade 3 winner La Cloche and is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Bellavais, who earned $435,470 in her career. He is trained by Riley Mott for owner N Theory Racing, and will go one mile on turf with Junior Alvarado aboard.

Friday Night Light returns for his third start Friday in Gulfstream Park race one. This 3-year-old colt by City of Light is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Gormley, who earned $1.03 million. He finished eighth, beaten 12 3/4 lengths, in his last start at Gulfstream on Feb. 27 in maiden optional claiming company while earning a 79 HRN speed figure. Mark Casse trains for Ironhorse Racing Stable, and he will compete at one mile on turf with Micah J. Husbands aboard.

Saturday

Silent Impact debuts in Gulfstream Park race two. This 3-year-old colt by Gun Runner is out of Soothing Touch and is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Emollient, who earned $1.35 million in her career. The Juddmonte homebred will compete at one mile on dirt for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott with Junior Alvarado riding from post two.

She Be Smooth returns in stakes company in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2). This 3-year-old filly by Lexitonian is out of Grade 1-winning millionaire Seattle Smooth. She Be Smooth dominated the Davona Dale (G2) on Feb. 28, winning by six lengths while earning a 112 HRN speed figure. Todd Pletcher trains the Calumet Farm homebred filly, who will tackle 1 1/16 miles on dirt with Flavien Prat aboard.

Taptastic returns in Oaklawn Park race 13, the Arkansas Derby (G1). The 3-year-old colt by Tapit is out of Grade 3 winner Valadorna and broke his maiden at Oaklawn on March 8, winning by 1 1/2 lengths while earning a 101 HRN speed figure. Trainer Steve Asmussen has him ready for 1 1/8 miles on dirt with Erik Asmussen aboard.

Sunday

Amazon Warrior headlines Sunday's debuts in Gulfstream Park race 11. This 3-year-old filly by Gun Runner is out of multiple Group 2 winner Princesa Carina, who earned $109,642. This makes Amazon Warrior a half-sister to George Washington, a multiple Group 1 winner in Brazil. The filly is trained by Chad Brown and will tackle 1 1/16 miles on turf with Luis Saez aboard from post one.

Crown Seeker makes his second start Sunday in Gulfstream Park race six. This 3-year-old colt by Seeking the Soul is out of Grade 2 winner Lady Shakespeare and is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Lady Speightspeare, who earned $807,645. He finished second, beaten 1 1/2 lengths, in his debut at Gulfstream on Feb. 14 while earning a 91 HRN speed figure. The colt will compete at 1 1/16 miles on turf with Shaun Bridgmohan riding.
