This week features a bumper crop of horses with exciting pedigrees debuting at Kentucky Downs, Del Mar and beyond, horses with closely-related graded winners and stakes-winning dams. Highlighted first-time starters include siblings to newly minted Grade 1 winner Antiquarian and Breeders' Cup winner Spun to Run.

The week's most intriguing newcomer may be Yurak, a filly by Tapit whose half-brother Spun to Run earned over $1.1 million and captured the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. She will be unveiled at Del Mar on Friday. Meanwhile, Final War is a colt by Divisidero out of the established producer Lifetime Memory, the dam of Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Antiquarian. He will race for the first time Thursday in a maiden turf mile at Kentucky Downs.

Thursday

Carson Street

Thursday's opener at Kentucky Downs features the debut of Carson Street, a 2-year-old colt by Street Sense making his first career start. This son of the Kentucky Derby winner has earned his prospect status through his half-sister Canoodling, a Grade 3 winner who earned $416,223. Trainer Brendan Walsh sends the colt out to go seven furlongs on turf, with Irad Ortiz Jr. taking the mount from post three in a competitive, full field with also-eligibles. The morning line has him at 4-1 odds for owners Dawn and Ike Thrash, indicating solid respect for his pedigree and training connections.

Mister Punch

Also competing in Thursday's Kentucky Downs opener is Mister Punch, a two-year-old colt by Into Mischief with exceptional family credentials. This colt is the half-brother to Grade 2 winner United, who earned over $1.8 million during his career and captured multiple graded stakes victories. Trainer Brad Cox has the colt ready for his turf debut, with Flavien Prat aboard from post eight. He is 5-1 on the morning line for Novogratz Racing Stables, suggesting the public will respect his combination of elite bloodlines and championship-level training.

R Slew of Cash

Kentucky Downs race 5 features R Slew of Cash, a two-year-old filly by Knicks Go making her racing debut. This daughter of the champion and Breeders' Cup winner has earned her prospect ranking through her dam Dynaslew, a Grade 2 winner who earned $441,327 during her career. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. has the filly ready for one mile on turf, with Jose Ortiz taking the assignment from post 2. The morning line has her at 9-2 odds for Averill Racing, making her the second choice in the 14-horse field and reflecting confidence that she will be ready on debut.

Final War

Kentucky Downs race 11 presents Final War, a two-year-old colt by Divisidero with exceptional family credentials. This son of the Grade 1 turf winner has earned his prospect status through his half-brother Antiquarian. He earned his first Grade 1 on Sunday in the Jockey Club Gold Cup and has earned $944,100 during his career so far. Their dam, the Istan mare Lifetime Memory, has also produced Fondly. She is a 3-year-old Upstart filly who won the Virginia Oaks at Colonial and captured the Delaware Oaks (G3) in June.

Trainer Jayde Gelner sends Final War to cover one mile on turf, with Ben Curtis taking the mount from post 10 in a competitive and oversubscribed field, with 12 in the main group and four also-eligibles. The morning line has him at 15-1 odds for Norman Stables, making him a long shot despite his Grade 1 family connection. The combination of proven bloodlines and the challenging debut conditions creates an intriguing betting proposition.

Friday

Yurak

Del Mar race 6 presents perhaps the week's most intriguing debut in Yurak, a two-year-old filly by Tapit with Grade 1 family credentials. She is a half-sister to Spun to Run, who earned over $1.1 million and captured the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile among his five graded stakes victories. Trainer John Sadler has the filly ready for one mile on turf, with Hector Berrios aboard from post five in a 14-horse field. The combination of Tapit's proven success with fillies and the Grade 1-winning sibling makes this one of the week's most anticipated debuts for Don Alberto Stable.

Brave Deb

Also competing in Del Mar race 6 is Brave Deb, a two-year-old filly by Authentic making her first career start. This daughter of the Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic winner has earned her prospect status through her half-sister Tirupati, a Grade 3 winner who has earned $218,176 so far. Trainer Richard Mandella has the filly ready for the one-mile turf debut, with Mirco Demuro taking the mount from the rail. She races for Spendthrift Farm as a homebred, indicating confidence from the prominent breeding operation in her potential.
