Welcome to this week's edition of Prospect Watch, where we spotlight the most intriguing young horses making their way to the starting gate. These promising athletes all share a special connection: they're related to some of racing's biggest stars or were produced by accomplished mares. Using our exclusive database, we've identified several runners worth following this week, from first-time starters to those making their second or third career appearances. Let's dive into the future stars who could be making headlines soon.

This week's lineup features an extraordinary collection of well-bred youngsters with connections to some of racing's biggest stars, including Triple Crown winner Justify, champion Forte and superstar Rachel Alexandra.

Monday

Starship Athena: Sister to Grade 1 star Power Squeeze

In Keeneland's fifth race on Monday, Starship Athena will make her career debut in a six-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 3-year-old daughter of Street Sense is a half-sister to Power Squeeze, a Grade 1 winner who has amassed over $1.02 million in earnings. Trained by Kelsey Danner and ridden by Joseph D. Ramos, Starship Athena will break from post 10 for owner Starship Stables. Her morning-line odds of 12-1 suggest she might need her first race, but her pedigree certainly demands attention. She's out of the dam Callmethesqueeze, whose offspring have won three graded-stakes races.

Velvet Vortex: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Faiza

Coming off an impressive debut win, Velvet Vortex returns in Keeneland's third race, a 6 1/2 furlong allowance optional claiming event on dirt. This 3-year-old Complexity filly is a half-sister to Faiza, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $672,000. Trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Luis Saez, Velvet Vortex broke her maiden impressively on February 15 at Fair Grounds, winning by 3/4 of a length. She'll break from post 2 as the 5-2 morning-line favorite for owner e Five Racing Thoroughbreds. With her connections and pedigree, she looks poised to build on her successful debut.

La Neige: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Randomized

After a disappointing debut, La Neige will try again in Keeneland's fifth race. This 3-year-old Frosted filly is a half-sister to Randomized, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.29 million. Trained by Riley Mott and ridden by Jaime A. Torres, La Neige finished seventh in her debut on March 1 at Gulfstream Park, beaten by 25 1/4 lengths in a seven-furlong maiden special weight. She'll break from post 4 with morning-line odds of 15-1 for owners Richard and Connie Snyder. Despite her poor debut showing, her stellar pedigree suggests she may have untapped potential.

Tuesday

Invictus: Son of Grade 1 winner Serengeti Empress

Making his second start in Keeneland's first race, Invictus has a pedigree that demands attention. This 3-year-old colt by Into Mischief is out of Serengeti Empress, the Kentucky Oaks winner who earned over $2.18 million. Trained by Brad Cox, Invictus was bred by owner Fern Circle Stables and Three Chimneys Farm. He ran seventh at Saratoga last summer on debut, so there may have been some injury keeping him away from the races this long, but his royal bloodlines make him a must-watch as he continues his racing career.

Excite: Son of Grade 1 winner Elate

Making his third career start in Keeneland's second race, Excite will try a maiden special weight at 1 1/8 miles on turf. This 3-year-old Speightstown colt is out of the multiple Grade 1 winner Elate, who earned an impressive $2.63 million during her racing career. Trained by Bill Mott and ridden by Brian Hernandez Jr., Excite showed improvement in his last start on February 8 at Gulfstream Park, finishing third by just a half-length in a one-mile turf maiden race. He'll break from the far outside post 12 with morning-line odds of 9-2 for Claiborne Farm and Adele B. Dilschneider, who also bred this homebred. With the added distance and his steady improvement, Excite could be ready to live up to his name.

Wednesday

Day Money Deegan: Brother to Grade 2 winner Toinette

Keeneland's third race will feature first-time starter Day Money Deegan, a 3-year-old colt by Improbable. While not related to a Grade 1 winner, this colt does have strong bloodlines as a half-brother to Toinette, a Grade 2 winner with earnings of $581,000. Trained by Michael Puhich and ridden by Gabriel Saez, Day Money Deegan will break from post 4 with morning-line odds of 20-1 for owner Mark Dedomenico. Bred by a partnership of WinStar Farm and others, this colt's siblings have combined for four graded stakes wins, suggesting his pedigree packs plenty of quality.

Dr. Park: Brother to champion Forte

Making his second start in Keeneland's third race, Dr. Park will compete in a six-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 4-year-old son of Uncle Mo is a half-brother to Forte, the multiple Grade 1 winner and champion 2-year-old who earned over $3.03 million. Trained by Peter Eurton and ridden by Flavien Prat, Dr. Park comes off a fourth-place finish on January 25 at Santa Anita, where he was beaten 4 3/4 lengths in a 6 1/2 furlong maiden special weight. He'll break from post 7 with morning-line odds of 6-5 for owner C R K Stable. Bred by South Gate Farm, this colt's late start to his career suggests he may have needed time to develop, but his connections clearly think highly of him given his strong morning-line favoritism.

A Kiss Because: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Silver Max

Making her second start in Keeneland's fourth race, A Kiss Because will compete in a 1 1/16 mile maiden claiming race on dirt. This 4-year-old daughter of Brody's Cause is a half-sister to Silver Max, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.95 million. Trained by Michelle C. Brafford and ridden by Walter A. Rodriguez, A Kiss Because comes off a distant 10th-place finish on March 7 at Turfway Park, beaten 20 lengths in a six-furlong maiden special weight on synthetic. She'll break from post 10 with morning-line odds of 30-1 for a partnership including Gregg D. Neuman, Greg McCracken, Amy Sparks and William G. Snowden. Her siblings have accumulated an impressive seven graded stakes wins between them, making her pedigree one of the strongest in the field despite her humble morning line.

Valentinian: Back for Another Try

Making another appearance in the entries, the well-bred Valentinian, who was scratched from the Transylvania Stakes on Monday, is also entered for an allowance optional claimer on April 9. As noted earlier, this Into Mischief colt is out of Grade 1 winner Rachel's Valentina and represents exceptional breeding as a grandson of Rachel Alexandra. Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by John R. Velazquez, Valentinian comes off an impressive maiden win on March 1 at Tampa Bay Downs, where he won by 3 1/4 lengths going 1 1/16 miles. He's once again on the also-eligibles list, with morning-line odds of 4-1 for the partnership of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Stonestreet Stables. Given his pedigree and the fact he was bred by Stonestreet, this colt merits close attention as he steps up to stakes company in just his second career start.

Obelisk: Son of Grade 1 winner Better Lucky

Making his third career start in Keeneland's eighth race, Obelisk will try a one-mile allowance on turf. This 4-year-old Quality Road colt is out of Better Lucky, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.28 million. Trained by Eoin G. Harty and ridden by James Graham, Obelisk comes off a maiden-breaking win on March 5 at Turfway Park, where he won by 2 1/4 lengths going a mile on synthetic. He'll break from post 2 with morning-line odds of 10-1 for Godolphin, who also bred this homebred. While he started his career late, his royal bloodlines and improving form make him interesting.

Thursday

Cortina: Half-brother to Grade 1 winner Harry Angel

Making his career debut in Keeneland's fourth race is Cortina, a 4-year-old Irish-bred son of Medaglia d'Oro. This colt is a half-brother to Harry Angel, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.08 million. Trained by Erin Riefenberg and ridden by Gavin Ashton, Cortina will break from post 11 with morning-line odds of 30-1 for owner Jennifer Snow. Bred by China Horse Club International, this colt's siblings have accumulated an impressive five graded stakes wins between them. Starting his career at age four suggests he may have had some setbacks, but his bloodlines remain elite.

Tears in Rain: Daughter of Grade 1 winner Balance

Making her second start in Aqueduct's third race, Tears in Rain will compete in a six-furlong maiden claiming race on dirt. This 3-year-old daughter of City of Light is out of Balance, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of over $1.05 million. Trained by Rick Dutrow and ridden by Lane J. Luzzi, Tears in Rain comes off a seventh-place finish on November 16 at Churchill Downs, beaten 15 lengths in a six-furlong maiden special weight where she earned a 70 HRN speed figure. She'll break from post 7 in a field of seven for owner Andrew Warren, who also bred her. The drop from maiden special weight to maiden claiming company suggests connections are looking for an easier spot to get her career on track.

Friday

Red Beretta: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Dorsett

Making her career debut in Keeneland's second race, Red Beretta will compete in a 4 1/2 furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-olds on dirt. This precocious filly by Catalina Cruiser is a half-sister to Dorsett, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $468,000. Trained by Michel Douaihy and ridden by Evin A. Roman, Red Beretta will break from post 10 in a field of 12 for owner Mana Racing. Bred by Shane Doyle and McCarthy, this filly is getting an early start to her racing career, and her connection to a Grade 1 winner makes her noteworthy in one of the season's first juvenile races.

Play With Magic: Sister to Triple Crown winner Justify

Perhaps the most exciting pedigree in this week's entries belongs to Play With Magic, who will make her debut in Keeneland's eighth race, a seven-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 3-year-old filly by Mendelssohn is a half-sister to none other than Justify, the undefeated Triple Crown winner who earned $3.8 million during his perfect career. Trained by Cherie DeVaux and ridden by Jose Ortiz, Play With Magic will break from the rail post in a field of nine for owner/breeder John D. Gunther. With siblings who have accumulated five graded stakes wins, Play With Magic starts her career with enormous expectations based on her family connections alone. Being a homebred for the breeder of Justify adds another layer of intrigue to this filly's debut.

Social Majesty: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Force the Pass

Making his second start in Gulfstream Park's program, Social Majesty will compete in a 1 1/16 mile maiden special weight on dirt. This 3-year-old colt by Improbable is a half-brother to Force the Pass, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.36 million. Trained by Antonio Sano and ridden by Micah J. Husbands, Social Majesty comes off a seventh-place finish on February 12 at Gulfstream Park, beaten five lengths in a one-mile maiden claiming race on turf. He'll break from post 6 in a field of seven for owner Cammarota Racing. Bred by Colts Neck Stables, this colt is making a surface switch from turf to dirt, which could be the key to improvement.

Aurelia's Mischief: Daughter of Grade 1 winner Lady Aurelia

Making her second start in Tampa Bay Downs' sixth race, Aurelia's Mischief will compete in a six-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief is out of the brilliant Lady Aurelia, a Grade 1 winner who earned $835,000 while competing successfully internationally. Trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Samuel Marin, Aurelia's Mischief comes off a fifth-place finish on June 14 at Churchill Downs, beaten 11 1/4 lengths in a five-furlong maiden special weight where she earned a 63 HRN speed figure. She'll break from post 6 in a field of seven for owner Stonestreet Stables, who also bred the filly. The lengthy layoff since her debut suggests she may have needed time to mature, but her royal bloodlines and strong connections make her return noteworthy.

Saturday

Oak Alley: Daughter of Grade 1 winner Vamo a Galupiar

Making her second start in Keeneland's third race, Oak Alley will compete in a 1 1/16 mile maiden special weight on turf. This 3-year-old daughter of Kitten's Joy is out of Vamo a Galupiar, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $194,000. Trained by Brendan Walsh and ridden by Luis Saez, Oak Alley comes off a sixth-place finish on March 9 at Gulfstream Park, beaten 6 3/4 lengths in a one-mile maiden special weight on turf. She'll break from post 13 in a field of 16 for owner Qatar Racing. Bred by R. S. Evans, this filly's pedigree suggests turf is the right surface, and the added distance could help her improve in her second career start.

Nantucket: Half-brother to Grade 1 winner Express Train

Making his second start in Keeneland's seventh race, Nantucket will compete in a 6 1/2 furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 3-year-old son of Munnings is a half-brother to Express Train, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.6 million. Trained by Rodolphe Brisset and ridden by Manuel Franco, Nantucket comes off a third-place finish on February 22 at Turfway Park, beaten 3 1/4 lengths in a 6 1/2 furlong maiden special weight on synthetic. He'll break from post 10 in a field of 12 for owners CHC and WinStar Farm. Bred by Dixiana Farms, this colt's switch from synthetic to dirt could be the key to improvement.

Fire in My Sul: Son of Grade 1 winner Pool Land

Making his second start in Oaklawn Park's program, Fire in My Sul will compete in a six-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. This 4-year-old son of Justify is out of Pool Land, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $530,000. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Keith Asmussen, Fire in My Sul comes off a fifth-place finish on March 8 at Fair Grounds, beaten 6 1/2 lengths in a six-furlong maiden special weight. He'll break from the rail post in a field of nine for owner Prince Sultan Bin Mishal Al Saud. Bred by SF Bloodstock, this regally-bred colt combines the pedigree of Triple Crown winner Justify with a Grade 1-winning dam, making him one of the most royally-bred maidens in training.

Brown Sugar: Sister to Grade 1 winner Rombauer

Making her third start in Gulfstream Park's sixth race, Brown Sugar will compete in a 1 1/16 mile maiden special weight on turf. This 3-year-old daughter of Twirling Candy is a full sister to Rombauer, the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes winner with earnings of $1.04 million. Trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Joe Bravo, Brown Sugar comes off a good second-place finish on January 26 at Gulfstream Park, where she was beaten 4 1/2 lengths in a one-mile turf maiden. She'll break from post 3 in a field of eight for owner Resolute Racing. Bred by John and Diane Fradkin (who also bred Rombauer), Brown Sugar appears to be improving and could be ready to graduate from the maiden ranks in this spot.

Summer Vibes: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner She Feels Pretty

Making his third start in Gulfstream Park's program, Summer Vibes will compete in a 7 1/2 furlong maiden special weight on turf. This 3-year-old colt by Good Magic is a half-brother to She Feels Pretty, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.13 million. Trained by Brendan Walsh and ridden by Edgard Zayas, Summer Vibes comes off a fifth-place finish on March 15 at Gulfstream Park, beaten 16 3/4 lengths in a one-mile maiden special weight on dirt. He'll break from post 14 in a field of 14 for owner Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing. Bred by Payson Stud, this colt is making a surface switch from dirt to turf, which could be the key to improvement given his pedigree.

Gosger: Half-brother to Grade 1 winner Harvey's Lil Goil

Making his third start in Keeneland's ninth race, Gosger will make his stakes debut in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on dirt. This 3-year-old son of Nyquist is a half-brother to Harvey's Lil Goil, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $899,000. Trained by Brendan Walsh and ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., Gosger comes off an impressive maiden-breaking win on February 15 at Gulfstream Park, where he won by 1 1/2 lengths going a mile on dirt. He'll break from post 6 in a field of nine for owner Harvey A. Clarke Racing Stables, who also bred him. The quick rise to stakes company after breaking his maiden suggests connections think highly of this colt, who could be a late addition to the Triple Crown trail with a strong performance.

Sunday

Tater Tot: Half-sister to Grade 1 winner Street Band

Concluding our weekly preview is Tater Tot, making her career debut in Gulfstream Park's race 6. This 3-year-old filly by Complexity will compete in a six-furlong maiden special weight on dirt. She's a half-sister to Street Band, a Grade 1 winner with earnings of $1.15 million. Trained by Christophe Clement and ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, Tater Tot will break from post 2 in a field of nine for a partnership including Madaket Stables, Little Red Feather Racing, and The Estate of Brereton C. Jones. Bred by Brereton C. Jones, this filly's connection to a Grade 1 winner makes her debut worth monitoring, especially with top trainer Christophe Clement at the helm.

Stay tuned for updates on these promising runners in next week's edition, where we'll track their progress and identify the next wave of potentially priceless pedigrees hitting the racetrack.
