Prognosis Good for Injured All Squared Away
Trainer Peter Miller said that the surgery Monday on 4-year-old gelding All Squared Away for a condular fracture of an ankle in training on Sunday at Hollywood Park was “very successful” and prognosis for a full recovery is “very good.”
“Four months layoff, but we absolutely expect to have him back racing again and hopefully at the same level,” Miller said.
All Squared Away was nominated for the Read and considered a major contender before the injury. The prognosis is welcomed by Point Loma natives Bob Rodriques and Joe Correia, who head Wire 2 Wire Stable and own a quarter of the son of Bellamy Road.
“I’m sure there will be challenges ahead, but we’re happy to get the good news that he’s all right,” Rodriques said.
Rodriques and Correia became hooked on Del Mar as teenagers and reached their dream of becoming owners about five years ago by forming a partnership with four other friends and becoming clients of Miller.
“Mainly what we wanted to do was to see our name in the program and run a horse on opening day,” Correia said. “We’ve been pretty lucky. Every horse we’ve had a part of has won a race and it’s all because of Peter Miller. We’ve been riding his coattails.”
All Squared Away has career earnings of $374,809 with his biggest win being the Kentucky Derby prep Lexington Stakes at Keeneland in April of last year.
