Juddmonte Farms owner Prince Khalid bin Abdullah dies

Prince Khalid bin Abdullah died on Tuesday at the age of 83. The owner of Juddmonte Farms, Prince Khalid was one of the most prolific owners and breeders in the sport.
“The whole of Juddmonte feels a huge sense of loss. Prince Khalid will always be remembered as a quiet, dignified, benevolent family man, whose horses spoke for him,” Juddmonte CEO Douglas Erskine Crum said in a statement on Tuesday. “He leaves a legacy that will stand the test of time. His contribution to the development of the thoroughbred will have long-lasting effects.”
The cause of death was not disclosed.
Prince Khalid won nine Eclipse Awards during his time in racing, four for top owner and five for top breeder. His top horses included Enable, Frankel, Arrogate, Dancing Brave and Empire Maker.
Over his career, he owned more than 500 stakes winners, breeding 440 of them, according to the Juddmonte release.
